Divertiuclitis and No Fiber
What is the NO FIBER Diet?
Well, to be honest it is really not much fun.
If you have lost of trouble, and some even choose this when they feel a flare coming on.
The NO FIBER diet may be the go.
Now be careful with this diet as it is low in nutrition. The no fiber diet is basically a liquid diet.
So you only have liquids. This means that there is no soluble fiber, no insoluble, not mass to any of the food.
The benefit of this diet is that it will take all pressure off the bowel. If there is no Mass to the food going in. There will be no Mass to the food going out.
No mass means No pressure.
The downside of this is that the food is lacking in vital nutrients. Minerals, vitamins etc.
As we have said some people choose this diet some do not. You should be very careful with this diet and only consider it with medical consent.
The foods you can have with this type of diet are really easy to find.
Jelly, Soup (but soup with no lumps) and that is about it. Anything that can be strained.
As you can gather this is not something you should be on for a long time. But as you can see it will really take the pressure off the bowel.
Some people have told us when they feel a flare coming on, they back right off all foods, get onto the liquid/no fiber diet, just for a day or so. That way all pressure is off, the bowel gets a good flush and then they start back with a low fiber diet and gradually add the fiber back into their diets again.
